You never know what you are going to get as far as the weather when you plan an outdoor wedding in October. Kansas has a way of keeping Brides and photographers on our toes! I normally watch the weather pretty close the week of a wedding and always am praying for sunshine with little to no wind. Our weather was seriously PERFECT ☀️

A few ago our family went to Houston to visit my family. It was going to be a super short trip (Arriving Friday and leaving Monday) so I wasn’t planning on setting up any hangouts with friends or sessions. I even purposely left my laptop at home so that I would not be tempted to work while we were on “vacation”, even though a 4 day trip with 24+ hours of driving doesn’t sound very relaxing.

Did you WOW when you saw how stunning Anne and Guy in these photos? I thought the same thing when they pulled up for their session and got out of their car! Anne and Guy both live in the College Hill area of Wichita, so naturally, they wanted to incorporate the area into their session. I’m so glad we chose to shoot at the Crown Uptown….

Let’s be honest, having your photos taken can feel extremely awkward! Add in being “lovey-dovey” and we have a recipe for awkward soup. As Emily, Brett, and I made our way to our first shooting location I asked them if they were nervous at all. They admitted they were a little nervous but that they were also excited. I make it a top priority to help my CCP Brides and Grooms feel comfortable in front of my camera and if I’m honest with you, I didn’t have to work very hard to help Emily and Brett be comfortable.

Lately I’ve been thinking about how awesome my CCP Brides and Grooms are. Seriously, they are amazing and super sweet people! Shelby and James are no exception to that. Our session was filled with laughs and some pretty hilarious faces made by James 😂. These two wanted to shoot downtown and I was excited to do so! Naturally, we hit up a parking garage to capture some great views of the city!

When I think back to Dallas and Chas’ wedding day there are a few things that immediately come to mind. The first thing was their decision to read their vows to one another after their first look. I have never photographed a couple doing this before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings is becoming friends with our couples. Easton and Blair’s wedding was a little different for Lara and I though since we were already friends with them prior to photographing their wedding. Lara actually works with Blair!
