You never know what you are going to get as far as the weather when you plan an outdoor wedding in October. Kansas has a way of keeping Brides and photographers on our toes! I normally watch the weather pretty close the week of a wedding and always am praying for sunshine with little to no wind. Our weather was seriously PERFECT ☀️! Sunny, 60 degrees, and no wind!
When Lara and I arrived at Grace Hill Vineyard for Abby and Jacob’s big day, we were greeted with open arms and warm smiles by the mother of the groom and mother of the bride. Amy and Mary made us feel so welcomed! It was a great way to start the day. I can honestly say this was the easiest wedding and the most chill environment we have ever photographed. Abby showed signs of very little stress and her mood was light-hearted all day! That isn’t to say that the day didn’t have its hiccups, most notably Jace (a groomsman) showed up minutes before groomsman photos were about to happen! Jace spent the morning in the ER due to busting his head open! Like a champ, he got treatment and still made it to the wedding to support one of his best friends. This instance and others didn’t faze Abby or Jacob that day. In their minds, the most important thing that was happening that day was that they were marrying their best friend ❤️.
I always geek about lighting and have an obsession with finding the best light available in each environment I’m in. I’m in love with the light we found for their romantic portraits. I even busted out the flash and took some photos well after the sun had set to capture the last few glimpses of glow above the horizon. Outdoor flash photography is totally outside of my style, but I loved the final images! Be sure to keep an eye out for those photos below 😉.
These two are so incredibly in love with one another. It was such an honor to capture all of the moments that unfolded on their big day. Check out some of my favorite images from the day.
