Every wedding day is a one of a kind experience. Sure some of the activities throughout the day might be the same, but each wedding is filled with little moments that you don’t plan for. They just happen! One of those moments that happened was a surprise first look with Anne and her father. Anne had just slipped into her dress and we were headed outdoors to take some bridal portraits. We turned a corner and there was Anne’s father, Dan. He was sitting down looking over some note and when he looked up he saw his baby girl all dressed up and ready for her wedding day. Immediately he was filled with emotion as he stood to embrace her. Tears flowed along with laughter. I am so glad I had my flash on my camera and was able to catch this raw moment as it unfolded! Another favorite moment of the day was when Anne and Guy took some time to pray before their ceremony. Their faith is a huge part of their lives and taking a few moments to pray with one another before their ceremony was important to both of them. Guy really wanted to wait to see Anne for the first time when she walked down the aisle, so we placed them back to back so that they could pray together. This was another moment in the day that was filled with so much emotion. It was truly beautiful!

Many couples have had their original wedding plans altered due to COVID 19. Some people have had to shorten their guest list, others have held intimate backyard ceremonies. So much time is put into the planning process of a wedding celebration and many brides have been left devastated that their plans had to change. Anne and Guy originally planned to have their wedding reception at the Indian Center in Wichita. It was the perfect space for their 350 guests! Just weeks before their wedding, Anne and Guy shifted their reception plan to an intimate backyard gathering that included only 50 of their closest friends and family. I’m gonna be honest, Lara and I were blown away when we walked up to Anne’s parents home for their reception. What they pulled off in such a short amount of time was truly remarkable! Their reception included a white tent, gorgeous table settings, an open bar, a plated dinner, and a jazz band! I heard both Anne and Guy say that they really believed that this reception was way better than what their original plans would have been. All in all their wedding day was a perfect celebration of their love.
