Last week our Family traveled to Houston for my youngest brothers graduation. I was hoping to be able to do a session while I was in town and wouldn’t you know it, Angie commented on one of my posts the week before we were leaving and said “If you could come to Houston so we could hire you for a family session, that would be great! 😁”. And just like that, their session was scheduled! I’ve known Angie since high-school and got to meet her husband a few years ago at our friend Cynthia’s wedding. I had not however met little David yet, don’t worry you’ll get to see just how cute he is in the photos below!
We ended up shooting at The Mercer Botanic Gardens in Houston. Little did I know that it was prom day for multiple schools in the area and the gardens were packed! I’m not kidding ya’ll, there were probably a couple hundred kids there with their families to all take photos. The mom-tographers were out and about! No biggie though. We found a less crowded area and got to business. My wife and 2 kids were on this shoot with us as well and when it came time for me to take some photos of just Austin and Angie, my wife held little David. My daughter Ellie was NOT happy about this, lol. She even said “No, I don’t like this at all” while my wife was holding David 😂.
This particular setting was very hard to get consistent looking images in. We had cloud cover that kept moving in and out during golden hour so the lighting was changing on me so much every few minutes. I thought I might explain that because my perfectionism is always in high gear to have consistent lighting in every shoot. Regardless of this challenge the Pomykal’s knocked their session out of the park!
At this point in the session we changed locations in the park because many of the teens and their families had left this area. This is bar far my favorite type of lighting to try and achieve 😍
